photographer & artist based in laguna beach, california.

as a member of the laguna beach creative art community, i bring a different perspective to the beautiful world we all share. my passion is capturing the exceptional landscapes of the southwest, breath-taking sunsets of the west coast or images that tell a story such as street photography, graffiti or architecture.

i strive to paint a picture through the lens of my camera giving the viewer a first-hand experience as if they themselves are standing right next to me enjoying the same view.

what equipment do i shoot?

when i started to take photography seriously, i was shooting on small point-and-shoot cameras. i also shot some on early cellphones from apple, microsoft & samsung but the image quality was quite rough.

i eventually moved up to Mirrorless cameras as my main shooter but also continued to upgrade my cellphones as newer units were released with better cameras.

below is a breakdown of the equipment i have used over the years, from 35mm to cellular to digital.

35mm - on film

early, and continuing use of 35mm...

i remember when i was a young kid, my mom was always taking pictures. she had an old argus 35mm camera. whether it was on the legendary driving vacations or weekends at our cabin in lake arrowhead, she was always capturing images. when i was 11 or 12, my grandmother bought me a polaroid pronto...loved that camera. then when i was in my teens, my sister and i went in together on a canon ae-1. photography was not a hobby or passion at that point but a way to record life. it wasn't until sometime in 2020 that i reacquired a 35mm camera, a canon ae-1p, and started playing with shooting on film once again. here are a few of the 35mm cameras that i have shot images on over the years.

now everyone is a photographer!!

like pretty much everyone out there, like it or not, we have all become amateur 'shutterbugs' with the advent of the cellphone camera. close to 2 trillion photos are captured annually on cell phones! and like me, i am sure that many have gotten into the habit of upgrading their phones for nothing more than better cameras. here is a list of the phones i have used...and captured images with over the years.

still the standard

around 2009-2010 when i started to really get into photography, i had a couple of small point & shoot cameras. you know the ones that fit in your pocket and when you turn them on a telephoto lens emerged from the front. i shot my way through a series of point & shoots and finally in early 2014, made the jump to a mirrorless camera. i went with sony who was the leader in mirrorless tech at the time...still are i believe. since then i have acquired a few more sony mirrorless cameras, and while not as easily lugged around as a cellphone, the quality of image is lightyears ahead of cell cameras. here are a few of the digital cameras that i have shot images on over the years.
