Beng a Southern California native growing up in Burbank, the local economy was very focused on both aviation and space flight. Lockheed was based in Burbank, and many aircraft, from the Constellation to the SR-71 emerged from those secret facilities. And most of the components for Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and the Shuttle originated from the So Cal area.
